Financial Assistance and Options for U.S. Accredited Programs

A guide on how to apply for financial assistance

Applying for financial assistance helps learners explore payment options that support their educational goals while meeting program requirements. This process ensures that every student has a clear plan for covering tuition.

1. Employer Tuition Reimbursement/Professional Development

Students who need financial assistance should check with their employers to confirm whether they are eligible for tuition reimbursement or professional development funding.

If you are unsure whether your employer offers either option, contact your HR department or manager. You can ask:

  • Does our company offer tuition assistance, tuition reimbursement, or professional development stipends?

  • How much is covered per year?

  • What types of programs qualify? Accredited colleges and universities?

  • What's the approval process and reimbursement timeline?

  • What documentation do you require to approve funding (for example: program details, invoice, or proof of enrollment)

Many students find out they have access to funding they didn’t realize was available.

If your employer will pay all or part of your tuition, please provide written verification of the approved funding. This may be a letter, email, reimbursement policy, or other documentation from your employer.

2. Federal Financial Aid / Title IV

Some learners may be eligible for Title IV federal student aid, including Federal Pell Grants and Federal Direct Loans. Eligibility depends on the learner, the school, and the specific program. To apply:

  • Create or sign in to your Federal Student Aid account at StudentAid.gov.

    • Select Tusculum University as the educational institution.

  • After admission, Tusculum University will receive your FAFSA information and review your eligibility.

  • If eligible, you will receive financial-aid information and instructions for reviewing and accepting or declining your award through the appropriate student portal.

Please note: Federal-aid eligibility, award amounts, and available funding are determined individually. Submitting a FAFSA does not guarantee aid. Federal Pell Grants and Direct Loans are Title IV programs, but the final availability of those funds depends on the institution’s and program’s eligibility as well as the student's individual eligibility.

3. Through Military Benefits

Eligible veterans, service members, and qualifying dependents may be able to use VA education benefits, including GI Bill benefits. Active-duty service members may also be eligible for Military Tuition Assistance, which is administered through their branch of service. To get started:

  • Review education-benefit eligibility through the VA education benefits page.

  • Create or sign in to your account through VA.gov.

  • Apply for eligible education benefits through the VA education benefits application.

  • Submit your Certificate of Eligibility and any required Tuition Assistance documentation to the appropriate school contact.

Payment timing and the amount covered may vary by benefit type, enrollment status, and approval requirements. VA education benefits can help eligible veterans, service members, and qualifying family members pay for approved education and training.

3. FAQs
